Hiring? Even Roses Stink Sometimes!

Have you ever felt so confident in someone after interviewing them that you’ve said to yourself, “Finally!!!!!!!!! This person is perfect.”
You may be right. You may think that there is no way this person could have any baggage or bad habits that would keep them from being an asset to your company. They probably will be. Your best employee may have recommended this person with the highest praise possible and assured you they will be great. They will.

But this is where you have to put yourself in your clients shoes. If anything were to ever go wrong, who is the first person your clients going to call? You. And when they ask, “where do you find your people and did you do a background check?”, you can say , “Yes ma’am, we always do. I had every reason to believe they were honest and trustworthy. We always do our due diligence.” Regardless of the situation, you as the business owner are ultimately responsible for anything that may go wrong.

At this point, no matter what has happened you know you did everything possible to hire a good employee. Things happen and people make mistakes, but at the end of the day you controlled what you could. After the issue, big or small, is resolved your client will have to acknowledge that you had their pets and homes well being as the top priority.
