SIX FIGURE RUBBERBANDS
If you are to have success as a pro pet sitter you need to offer added value services along with pet care. These services can be things like watering plants, home security checks, and taking out the trash just to name a few.
The most obvious and most common one of these services is bringing in the mail for clients who are away on extended trips. Seems like a mindless task and it is, but it means a lot your clients and should never be charged for.
A time will come when you bring on sitters to help you meet the demands of your business. And until you have trained and trust your sitters to do things your way you will spend time going behind them to ensure the quality of their service. I guarantee you will not be pleased with what you find from time to time.
My biggest issue with my sitters was finding messy stacks of mail in clients homes. Some worse than others but none that couldn't have been made perfect in a matter of seconds.
Our business never hit the six-figure mark until we started giving all our sitters rubber bands to wrap clients mail in. We made it company policy. When mail is wrapped in a rubber band it can only look one way. Neat. It looks neat to me and neat to the client.
It seems trivial I know. But the rubber band instantly adds consistency to your service in an industry where consistency is rare. I promise your client will notice and so will your bottom line.
